Mr David Edwards
Head of School, Western International School of Shanghai (WISS)

David is the Head of School for Western International School of Shanghai (WISS). WISS is remains the first and only four programme IB World School in mainland China.

Prior to joining WISS in August 2022, David served as the Founding Head of School at ISA Science City International School in Guangzhou, as well as Vice-President of Project Development for ISA International Education Group. In these roles he directly led the US$170 million launch of ISA Science City during the pandemic period of 2020, as well as supporting the launch of an additional US$400 million of new schools in Guangdong and Hubei.

Beyond Mainland China, David was Head of Wesley College in Melbourne, Australia, as well as Founding Principal then CEO of GEMS World Academy (Singapore). Additionally, he was Principal of the World’s largest IB school in Singapore.

With experience overseeing more than US$1 billion of start-up schools, David was recognized in 2017 as one of Asia’s top 100 CEOs.

David holds a Masters in Education Leadership, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Politics.
