Mr Bruce Au

Bruce works as a philanthropic grantmaker while he started out as a financial analyst on Wall Street. As a Deputy Executive Manager at The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Bruce develops and vets charitable grants in the area of youth development and poverty alleviation, and work with partners to amplify the Trust’s positive impact on the community. Bruce was previously a founding Director of Operations at Character Lab, a New York-based NGO that advances scientific insights that help kids thrive. Bruce had also been a strategy consultant. His specialty was in serving mission-oriented enterprises, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Bank, on social and economic issues. Bruce is currently advising Bloom Academy, a project-based school founded by educators, entrepreneurs and engineers, and is an expert group member of CoolThink@JC, an initiative to mainstream computational thinking in Hong Kong and beyond. Bruce holds an MPA in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. Bruce is a graduate of Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong and of Shau Kei Wan Government Secondary School.
